A Little Bit About Mary Lauda Corwin

Mary Lauda joined the Toulmin Kitchen & Bath team in 2015 following a brief career in the home furnishings industry. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Alabama in 2013 and received her AKBD designation from the NKBA in 2017. She is currently working toward certification as a Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer.

Mary Lauda is an integral part of our team. She closed over $900,000 in projects in 2017 and had successfully built lasting relationships with builders and vendors in the area. In coordination with owner & principal Jay Young, she oversaw the full-scale redesign of the company’s showroom in Tuscaloosa. She has helped implement new pricing systems for cabinetry to help expedite the job bidding process.

Outside of the office, Mary Lauda has strong ties to the community and has given back by coordinating volunteer days and sponsorships for Schoolyard Roots, a 501c (3) organization that uses gardening to enhance elementary school curriculum. She also coordinates other service projects in the local community.

“Interior Designer Crush”

Mary Lauda's work was recently recognized for her work in Birmingham Style Blueprint as a monthly “Interior Designer Crush.” The article showcased her work creating smart, functional, aesthetically beautiful that perfectly complements the home's character and reflects the personal style of her clients.

In the article, Mary Lauda explained her design aesthetic and how she translates it into her client's homes. “My personal style leans a little eclectic, but still clean and unfussy. I studied interior design and art history in college, so I have an appreciation and love for so many different styles. With clients, though, I am always mindful of what their preferences are and how they live. My ultimate goal is to create spaces where my clients can truly feel at home.”

Her professionalism, work, and aesthetic were what brought her to the attention of the NKBA.

The NKBA Thirty Under 30 to Watch!

Mary Lauda's most recent recognition was her being awarded the prestigious “Thirty under 30” award by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. The nominations were open to designers from both the United States and Canada and Mary Lauda made the cut for her inspiring designs and artistic prowess. The winners are the standard-bearers within the industry and examples for their peers. According to Bill Darcy, KKBA Chief Executive Officer, “We believe in a vibrant and robust future for this industry, and these talented individuals are the future of this industry. Our aim is that this honor helps them in their continuing professional development, as they grow into their roles as the next generation of industry leaders.

The tradition in recent years has the incoming Thirty Under 30 class tasked with a mission at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show “KBIS”. The group is split into ten teams of three and asked to walk the show floor, seeking “Best of” products and innovations in several categories. The winning picks are presented with the inaugural “30 Choice Awards” at the show. It's an event that is sure to provide some insights about what the next generation of designers views as important developments in all aspects of the kitchen and bath space, from advances in technology to design components and product innovations that will serve as the game-changing trends in kitchen and bath remodeling in the coming years.

Here at Toulmin Kitchen and Bath, we are so proud of Mary Lauda, and we're looking forward to continuing to provide our clients with her innovative, functional designs in the coming years!
