How Long Does The Window Replacement Process Take?

Window Replacement Installation: Day One

As the removal of the old windows continues, installation of the new windows will begin.
The sash ropes will be cut, and weights will be dropped to the bottom of the window pocket. New windows will be placed into the opening, leveled, and nailed in place.

Depending on the size of your crew, you should expect anywhere from 12 to 15 windows to be removed and replaced at the end of the day. You do not want any windows removed and boarded over. Most window replacement projects can be completed in a single day. If not, or if you have a more complex job, like installing a bay or bow window, the work may continue for a second day.
Here’s what you can expect if the window replacement installation continues a second day:
Installers will arrive early and continue your project, removing and installing windows.
When the removal team is finished, they will begin installing exterior trim on your windows. The exterior trim, known as cladding, provides a tight seal against the weather. Depending on your window contractor and your needs, this step may be optional.
Your home will be broom-cleaned, and each window will be tested by opening and closing them.
