Toulmin Kitchen & Bath recently completed a stunning kitchen remodel in the High Forest neighborhood of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The homeowners desired a more functional space that did not feel overly large, incorporated more natural light, and had better flow from the kitchen to the outdoor areas. Additionally, they wanted a bar area integrated into the new kitchen design and opted for updated cabinetry in the laundry room and home office, as well.
Kitchen Design Goals
Enhanced Functionality: The original kitchen layout was impractical for the homeowners' needs. Our goal was to create a more user-friendly space with optimized workflow and storage solutions.
Bright and Airy Feel: We aimed to bring more natural light into the kitchen, making it a brighter and more inviting space.
Improved Flow: The original design required walking through the laundry room to access the outdoor area. Our redesign improved the connectivity between the kitchen and the outdoor space.
Bar Area Addition: The homeowners wanted a dedicated bar area within the kitchen for entertaining guests.
A stylish and functional bar area was added, featuring custom cabinetry from Toulmin Kitchen & Bath. This new addition is perfect for entertaining and adds a touch of sophistication to the kitchen.
We reconfigured the kitchen layout to provide a seamless flow from the kitchen to the outdoor area. Homeowners no longer need to walk through the laundry room to go outside, enhancing convenience and usability.
The light blue handmade tile, white kitchen cabinets, and stained alder kitchen island, combined with windows above the sink, give the new kitchen a bright and airy feel.

The Cabinetry
The kitchen and bar area showcases exquisite Shiloh cabinetry with full overlay doors, providing a sleek and seamless look. A stunning stained alder island matches the vent hood on the perimeter wall and serves as the focal point. The island features elegant turned legs that add a touch of craftsmanship. The cabinets extend to the ceiling, maximizing storage and enhancing the room's height.
Countertops & Backsplash
Quartz countertops offer durability and elegance, complemented by MSI handmade subway tile for a unique backsplash.
The Details
Delta faucets and Blanco Silgranit sinks combine style and functionality, while Top Knobs hardware offers the perfect finishing touch. The space has top-of-the-line GE Cafe appliances, including an induction cooktop, ensuring a modern and efficient kitchen experience.
