Tucked away in the historic Sherwood district near the University of Alabama campus, this charming weekend home underwent a stunning interior transformation. While we weren’t the general contractor for the remodel, we were proud to provide the cabinetry, countertops, and design expertise that elevated the functionality and aesthetics.

A Kitchen Reimagined

Originally small and tucked into a tight nook, the kitchen layout was completely reconfigured to maximize space and flow. Our design introduced a spacious island—a game changer for both functionality and gathering.


Kitchen Details

  • Cabinetry: We used Eclipse Cabinetry throughout the kitchen. The upper cabinets are made of maple and finished in Soft White for a timeless, clean look. The lower cabinets are made of Rift Sawn Oak and stained in Braun. A pocket door cabinetry feature conceals a microwave/toaster oven cabinet, ensuring the kitchen counters stay clutter-free.

  • Island: The new kitchen island features Rift Sawn Oak cabinetry stained in Braun, creating a natural focal point with warmth and texture.

  • Hardware: The cabinet pulls are finished in Satin Brass.

  • Countertops: Durable and beautiful Cambria quartz countertops (the color is Britannica Warm Gold) were selected for their style and performance.

  • Backsplash: A zellige-style tile backsplash with subtle texture and variation adds an artisan-inspired finish.

Hallway Built-Ins and Storage Additions

In addition to the kitchen, we designed and installed custom built-in cabinetry for the hallway, which is finished in Amazing Gray. These provide functional storage and add character to the space.

Half Bathroom

Our talented designers carefully reconfigured the layout for this home to effectively accommodate the addition of a convenient half bathroom. We took great care in providing the thoughtful design and high-quality materials for this new space; however, it is important to note that we did not handle the actual construction work involved in the project.

Bathroom Details

  • Vanity Cabinet: The Eclipse Cabinetry vanity is made of maple, with a square flat panel door and drawer style, finished in Amazing Gray.

  • Countertop: Gran Makalu granite countertop with an antiqued finish.

  • Hardware: Black Matte

  • Tile Flooring: This unique tile pattern brings visual interest to the compact space, creating a refined, high-end look that complements the rest of the home’s updated design.

    • Color: White, featuring a mix of Polished Star and Matte Cross tiles

    • Installation Pattern: Star & Cross

    • Grout Color: Laticrete Stormy Gray

  • Wallpaper: To elevate the design of the half bath even further, we supplied and arranged installation for a bold, botanical wallpaper: Yarrow Nouveau NV5557. With its organic pattern and modern flair, this wallcovering adds personality and depth to the compact space, making it feel intentional, curated, and far from ordinary. It’s the perfect finishing touch that ties together the custom tile, cabinetry, and overall design.
